Dr. Lynneth Stuart-Hill is an occupational physiologist and tenured faculty in the School of Exercise Science, Physical and Health Education at the University of Victoria and past Chair of the UVic Biosafety Committee. The scope of her research includes job and physical demands analysis (duty to accommodate), the design of Bona Fide Occupational Pre-employment Physical Abilities Tests and research into the physiological factors involved in the health and safety of workers employed in physically demanding occupations. A key element of Dr. Stuart-Hill’s research is the applied, practical aspect and she has completed extensive research in occupational physiology both in the lab and in the field settings, across an array of workplace settings. Since 1998, Dr. Stuart-Hill has completed numerous professional reports and given knowledge transfer presentations to a wide variety of occupational groups. Sheworks with numerous companies to aid them addressing human risk management challenges in the workplace. Dr. Stuart-Hill has acted as an expert witness in legal arbitrations for several companies and consulted for WorkSafe BC. Organizations that Dr Stuart-Hill has worked with in the past include Weyerhauser, Hayes Logging, McMillan-Bloedel, Norske, Interfor, the Canadian Land Force Command, Neucel Specialty Cellulose, Pacifica Papers, Victoria and Saanich Fire Departments, Victoria and Saanich Police Departments, British Columbia Ministry of Water, Land and Air Protection, the Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources, the Capital Regional District, ParticipACTION and the Canadian Interagency Forest Fire Centre.
Greg Mulligan is a senior lab instructor and an expert at all types of laboratory and field measurement of human performance. He conducted his MSc research with emergency responders and continues to help supervise students working in the occupational physiology field. He specializes in project management, injury analysis and physical and job demand analysis.
Melissa is a senior lab instructor and has been involved in occupational research and testing since 1998. Melissa’s graduate research focused on developing a new valid and reliable pre-employment test for structural firefighters. She was the supervisor of the occupational testing and research centre for over 8 years and has extensive experience in pre-screening and pre-employment testing. .
Ryan specializes in project management for SFS. He has a keen interest in occupational health and safety so is also part of the testing/research team. His experience in the fitness industry brings fresh insights and a different perspective to our projects.
